This course has been designed to provide supervisory and leadership skill training for the field supervisors (and future field supervisors) of public power systems. These positions, which are typically known as line superintendents, truck foremen, general foremen, lead linemen or crew leaders, are responsible for the day-to-day management of field operations for public power utilities. The course covers the major elements of the crew leader’s responsibilities, and reviews the knowledge as well as the technical and interpersonal skills required for success on the job. All participants will gain a clear understanding of the challenges inherent in crew leadership positions, and the expertise and commitment necessary to meet these challenges.
The objective of this program is to give participants the knowledge and techniques that will help them serve their customers confidently and professionally. Participants who successfully complete all six classes of the program will be awarded a NEPPA Certificate in Customer Service Leadership, recognizing the professional training that they have undergone in this critical area of utility operation. To make this series accessible to the greatest number of utilities, including those that cannot afford to have their staffs away for all-day training programs, each of the six sessions will run for one half-day (three hours).
The NEPPA Public Utility Management Program is designed for New England public power officials who are leading their organizations through a transformative period in the electric utility industry.
