NEPPA 2009 Awards

Presented at the NEPPA Annual Conference

Person of the Year Award
for sustained, outstanding service and contributions to NEPPA and to public power

Dan Golubek
General Manager
Westfield Gas and Electric Department

passed away in April after a brief illness to the shock and disbelief of his family, his employees, his community, and his professional colleagues throughout Massachusetts and New England. The award presented to Dan’s wife, Kitty Golubek, in honor of Dan’s long and distinguished career in public power, and in appreciation of all of the contributions to the Northeast Public Power Association.

One of NEPPA’ s most outstanding affiliate members, Century Bank has been actively involved in NEPPA conferences and workshops as attendees, presenters and sponsors. In the past year, Brian Feeney has also served on NEPPA’s new Marketing & Membership committee, where he has represented other affiliates and played an important role in helping strengthen NEPPA’s relations with all of its affiliate members. Century Bank has also been extremely generous in hosting NEPPA ommittee meetings and treating them as their important guests.

Dr. Hamid Jaffari
Director of Engineering & Operations
Danvers Electric, Danvers Electric Division
for playing a central role on NEPPA’s new Education & Training Committee and providing technical guidance and leadership in the development of new programs for NEPPA members. In addition, he has been instrumental in the development of a new course on Power Systems Review for engineers and technicians.

Distinguished Service Award
recognizes individuals who have provided outstanding service to their public power systems and their communities in the past year.

Jonathan Fitch , General Manager
Princeton Municipal Light Department.
for his leadership role during one of the worst ice storms ever to hit southern New England in December of 2008. Besides working diligently to restore power to his community, he worked extensively with local representatives to assure that municipal light plants in Massachusetts were included in legislation providing state reimbursement through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency

Henry Lynch, Disaster Recovery Executive
New Hampshire Electric Cooperative
as the responsible senior manager during the great ice storm of 2008, he directed the activities of Cooperative employees as they coped with the devastation wrought by the storm. He is also an active member of the NEPPA Mutual Aid Committee, and has worked closely with public power officials throughout New England in coordinating assistance to systems throughout the region
